Daily Lesson 90

Once again Allah Ta’aala has given us Friday, which we know as Jumu’ah. This is the best day of the week, so it’s only right that we do the best actions we can on this day. Let us look at a few actions we can do on Jumu’ah.

A Look back at the amazing features. Appearance, characteristics, habits, and personality of our most amazing nabi ﷺ, to help us understand how special he was.

Jibreel Alayhis Salam has said:

قَلَّبْتُ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَمَغَارِبَهَا فَلَمْ أَرَ رَجُلًا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

“I searched the east and the west, I left no stone unturned, but I did not find anyone like our beloved Rasul ﷺ.” (Mujamul Awsat-Tabraani)

His fear of Allah and His blessed Tears ﷺ

Listen to “His fear of Allah and His blessed Tears ﷺ  by Mawlana Junayd Makda Sahib

Shedding Tears out of the Fear of Allah Ta’ala

A’ishah رضي الله عنها describing how our beloved Nabi ﷺ feared Allah Ta’ala mentions, one night he returned home and came to sleep. However, he got up a few moments later and after performing wudhu he commenced Salah. He cried and wept so much in Salah that his blessed tears flowed on to his chest. He then went into ruku’ and then sajdah where he continued to cry. He again stood up and his weeping continued. He remained this way until Bilal رضي الله عنه came to inform him that the time of Fajr had set in.

Abdullah Ibn Shikh-khir رضي الله عنه narrates something similar when he once visited our beloved Nabi ﷺ as he performed Salah. He says: ‘The sound of a boiling cauldron could be heard coming from his
blessed chest.’ (Riyadh as-Saliheen)

Note: Weeping often out of the fear of Allah is a special trait of the chosen slaves of Allah. The closer one gets to Allah, the more one weeps.

Tears while reciting the Qur’an

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه says that once our beloved Nabi ﷺ asked him to recite some Qur’an. He recited Surah Nisa and when he reached a verse, in which Allah Ta’ala mentions that our beloved Nabi ﷺ will be brought as a witness against the disbelievers of Makkah Mukarramah, our beloved Nabi ﷺ asked him to stop reciting.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه says that when he looked towards our beloved Nabi ﷺ he saw that his blessed eyes had been filled with tears. (Bukhari)

Ibn Battaal رحمة الله عليه narrates something similar regarding another verse concerning the day of Qiyamah.

Note: These incidents show our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s concern for the believers and disbelievers alike.

Crying and Seeking Forgiveness on the occasion of a solar eclipse

Abdullah Ibn Amr رضي الله عنه narrates about the occasion of a solar eclipse in the time of our beloved Nabi ﷺ. After a very lengthy salaah, Abdullah رضي الله عنه describes the dua our beloved Nabi ﷺ made saying that our beloved Nabi ﷺ began weeping and sobbing while saying, ‘O Allah, did You not promise me that You would not punish them as long as I am in their midst? Did You not promise me that You would not punish them as long as they seek repentance from You? We are seeking your forgiveness collectively. (Shama’il)

Tears of a loving Father and Brother

Despite his grand status as being the best of mankind, and all of his great qualities our beloved Nabi ﷺ reminded us that he too was human and he too experienced pain and hurt.

Anas رضي الله عنه describes the final moments of Ibrahim رضي الله عنه as our beloved Nabi ﷺ held his beloved son in his arms, kissed him and sniffed the natural fragrance of his innocent body. Ibrahim رضي الله عنه then passed away and tears began flowing from our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s blessed eyes. (Sahih Bukhari)

Similarly, when our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s daughter Sayyidah Umme Kulthum رضي الله عنها passed away Anas رضي الله عنه says that he saw our beloved Nabi ﷺ seated at her grave and weeping. (Bukhari)

Usman ibn Maz’un رضي الله عنه was the Foster brother of our beloved Nabi ﷺ and was among the first group of people to accept Islam. When he passed away A’ishah رضي الله عنها says that our beloved Nabi ﷺ kissed him. (Abu Dawud)

These were just a few brief descriptions of our most beautiful, most perfect and most special Nabi ﷺ, who is a perfect role model for us all.

يَارَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِماً اَبَداً عَلٰى حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ

Amazing Miracle of a tree

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ was loved by all of Allah Ta’ala’s creation. Even objects such as trees and rocks loved and admired him.

The following incident of a tree is a perfect example of this.

In the early days of Islam, our beloved Nabi ﷺ used to deliver his Friday Khutbah (sermon) standing beside a palm tree. The companions expressed their desire that our beloved Nabi ﷺ stand on a pulpit (mimbar) to deliver his sermons. Our beloved Nabi ﷺ granted them this permission.

Jabir رضي الله عنه says that when the pulpit was ready and our beloved Nabi ﷺ climbed up the pulpit to give his first sermon, the tree began to cry like a child. Our beloved Nabi ﷺ climbed down and hugged the tree until it stopped crying and became silent. (Bukhari)
