Daily Lesson 70

Once again Allah Ta’aala has given us Friday, which we know as Jumu’ah. This is the best day of the week, so it’s only right that we do the best actions we can on this day. Let us look at a few actions we can do on Jumu’ah.

Durood

We have learnt in past lessons that extra durood/salat and salam should be read on Friday.

Aim for 300 daily and 500 to 1000 every Friday

Use our durood counter chart to keep track of all your durood on Friday and every day:

Surah Kahf

Surah Kahf has a very special connection to Friday and many vitues have been mentioned for its recitation on Friday. Read our previous lessons in which we have discussed some virtues of reading Surah Kahf.

A Look back at the amazing features. Appearance, characteristics, habits, and personality of our most amazing nabi ﷺ, to help us understand how special he was.

Jibreel Alayhis Salam has said:

قَلَّبْتُ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَمَغَارِبَهَا فَلَمْ أَرَ رَجُلًا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

“I searched the east and the west, I left no stone unturned, but I did not find anyone like our beloved Rasul ﷺ.” (Mujamul Awsat-Tabraani)

His blessed hair

His Blessed Eyelashes ﷺ

The companions while describing our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s eyelashes say they were long and dense.

This is a known feature which increases a person’s beauty and makes them more attractive.

His Blessed Eyebrows ﷺ

Hind رضي الله عنها says that our beloved Nabi ﷺ had eyebrows that were full and they did not join in the middle. In some narrations, it has been mentioned that the eyebrows were thin and bow-shaped.

Hind رضي الله عنها has also mentioned that there was a vein between his blessed eyebrows which would swell when he would become upset or angry.

His Blessed Beard ﷺ

The blessed beard of our beloved Nabi ﷺ was dense and according to one narration, we find that the hair of the beard did not grow on our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s blessed cheeks.

His Blessed Hair ﷺ

The blessed hair of our beloved Nabi ﷺ was beautiful and dense. His hair is described as being neither curly nor completely straight.

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ mostly had zulfa (long hair for men), which in length normally was either up to the earlobes or between the ears and shoulders. On some occasions, the blessed hair would reach to just above the shoulders.

Note: Ulama has advised that the preferred length for men to keep zulfa (long hair) is up to the earlobes.

His Blessed Colour ﷺ

The colour of our beloved Nabi ﷺ’s beard and hair was black.

Adorning the Hair

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ used to apply oil very frequently to his head and would also comb his hair and beard. To help arrange his hair, he would use water.

Ayesha رضي الله عنها, the wife of our beloved Nabi ﷺ, says that whilst combing the hair of our beloved Nabi ﷺ, she would make a middle parting.

It is also reported that our beloved Nabi ﷺ would apply itr (perfume) to his beard. The way he did this was that he would put the perfume to his palms and then apply it to his blessed beard.

Blessed habits involving the beard

Ayesha رضي الله عنها, says that when Nabi ﷺ was overcome by grief, he would grasp hold of his beard and hold it.

These were just a brief description of our most beloved, most perfect and most special Nabi ﷺ who we all need to make a role model.

يَارَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِماً اَبَداً عَلٰى حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ

Look at how amazing our beloved Nabi ﷺ was!!

One Vessel of water enough for 1,400 companions!

On one occasion our beloved Nabi ﷺ was with his companions, when the time for salah arrived. The group had only one vessel of water between them which was not enough for the entire group to perform wudhu with. Our beloved Nabi ﷺ placed his blessed fingers in this vessel (container) and invited his companions to perform wudhu and drink from it.

Jabir رضي الله عنه narrates that he saw water flowing from the blessed fingers of our beloved Nabi ﷺ. Upon enquiry, Jabir رضي الله عنه said there were 1,400 companions with our beloved Nabi ﷺ. (meaning that’s how many companions used the water of just one vessel!) (Bukhari)
