Benefits of Reading Surah Yaseen

There is a surah in the Glorious Quran which is known as the ‘Heart of the Quran’. Being the heart of the Quran immediately tells us of how special it must be. This surah is Surah Yaseen.

Facts about Surah Yaseen

Located: 22nd and 23rd Juz

Ayah: 83

Letters: 3,680

Rewards to be gained: 

1) 30,680 Hasanah (Good deeds) 

2) Completing the entire Quran 10 times!

Let’s look at a few virtues of this amazing surah so that we begin to read it more regularly and we also know what rewards we are gaining while reading it.

Benefit One – 

That person who reads this surah will get the reward of completing the entire Quran ten times!

Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه reported Rasulullah ﷺ as saying, “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Holy Qur’aan is Yaseen. Allah Ta’ala will record anyone who recites Yaseen as having recited the Holy Qur’aan ten times.” (Tirmidhi, Darimee)

Benefit Two –

Whoever reads surah Yaseen in the morning, all of the day’s activities are made easy.

Sayyiduna Ata ibn Abu Rabah رضي الله عنه told of hearing that Rasulullah  said, “If anyone recites Yaseen at the beginning of the day, his needs will be fulfilled.” (Darimee)

Benefit Three –

Reading Surah Yaseen in front of a person passing away, their death becomes easier for them and sin will be forgiven

Sayyidah Ummud Darda رضي الله عنه reports Rasulullah ﷺ saying, “Over no person who is about to die and Surah Yaseen is read upon them but Allah Ta’ala lightens the difficulties of death for him.”

Sayyiduna Maqil ibn Yasaar Muzani رضي الله عنه reported Rasulullah ﷺ as saying, “If anyone recites Yaseen for Allah’s pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven; so recite it on those who are dying.” (Baihaqi)

Benefit Four – 

Reading Surah Yaseen in the graveyard, the residents of the graves will find ease and comfort for that day

Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه reported Rasulullah ﷺ as saying, “Whoever goes to the graveyard and reads Surah Yaseen Allah Ta’ala gives them (the grave dwellers) ease that day, and the reciter receives spiritual blessings equivalent to the amount of letters of Surah Yaseen.” (Qurtubi)

Benefit Five –

Whoever reads Surah Yaseen in the night Allah Ta’ala forgives his sins (minor sins)

Sayyiduna Jundub ibn Abdullah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Rasulullah ﷺ has said, “Whoever reads Yaseen at night seeking the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala he is forgiven.” (Ibn Hibbaan)

Benefit Six –

The reader of surah Yaseen in the morning will feel content and happy till the evening and the reader of surah Yaseen at night will feel happy and content til morning.

Yahya ibn Abi Kathir رحمه الله‎‎ says, “This narration has reached me that whoever shall recite Yaseen at night, he remains content till morning and whoever shall recite it in the morning, he remains content till evening. And that person who has related this to me has also experienced this.” Tha’labi رحمه الله‎‎ and Ibn Atiyah has mentioned this and Ibn Atiyah رحمه الله‎‎ says, “Experience confirms this.”

Memorise it and make our beloved Nabi ﷺ happy!

Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه reports Rasulullah ﷺ saying, “My heart’s desire is that Surah Yaseen should be present in the heart of every individual of my Ummah.”
