The Verse of (Allah Ta'ala's) Honour and Power

No one likes illness, fear, worry or anxiety. Why would anyone? After all, everyone wants to be happy and safe at times right?

Well, today let’s learn a short verse which can be very easily memorised. This verse is known as the verse of Allah’s honour and power!

الْحَمْد لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيك فِي الْمُلْك وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيّ مِنْ الذُّلّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا

Al hamdu lillaahil ladhee lam yattakhidh waladan walam yakullahoo shareekun fil mulki walam yakullahoo waliyyum minadh dhulli wa kabbirhu takbeeraa”

Translation: All Praise is for Allah, Who has neither fathered a son, nor has He any partner in His Kingdom, nor (does He need) any protector due to weakness. And proclaim His Greatness much

Benefits:

1) Cure
This verse is a remedy and cure from any illness! (Al-Jāmi’ul-Kabir, Abū Ya’lā, Majma’uz-Zawāid)

2) Safety and Protection
By reading this verse Allah Ta’ala will grant us Safety and protection from anything that can harm us!
(Al-Jami’ul Kabir, Abü Yalā, Majma’uz-Zawaid)

3) Keep burglars away
The one who reads this verse will be saved from theft and robbery! (Musannaf ‘Abdur-Razzãq)

4) Relief from Anxiety
When the words

تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ

are added to the beginning of this verse then it will grant relief from grief, worry and anxiety (Al-Häkim, Al-Bayhaqi, Al-Jāmi’ul Kabir)

5) Honour
Being the verse of honour, Allah Ta’ala will grant honour and respect to its reader. (Hāshiyatul-Jamal)

6) Courage
Some commentators have also said that by reading this ayah once daily, Allah Ta’ala will grant courage and strength to the reader.

Did you know?

When a child from the Banu Hashim tribe would reach the age of speech, our beloved Nabi ﷺ would make a point of teaching them this verse by reading it to them 7 times.
