Du’a for Eating as a Guest

We all have occasions where we are offered food by someone or we are invited for a Meal.

There is a beautiful Du’a of our beloved Nabi ﷺ which we can read, for the person giving us the food or the invitation.

This Du’a can be read at the time of being offered the food or it can also be read after eating the meal as a guest.

Du’a for Eating as a Guest

اَللّٰهُـمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِيْ، وَاسْقِ مَنْ سَقَانِيْ

Allaahumma at`im man at`amanee wasqi man saqaanee.

Translation: “O Allah, feed the one who has fed me, and give drink to the one who has given me drink.” (Muslim)

Few benefits of this special Du’a:

1) We will be following a Sunnah of our beloved Nabi ﷺ.

2) We will be making Dhikr of Allah Ta’ala.

3) We will be giving a special Du’a to the person who has been kind to us.

4) Through this Du’a, Allah Ta’ala will give blessings of food and drink to the person who has kindly fed us.

Additional Du’as we can read

اَللّٰهمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيْمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ

Allahumma barik lahum feemaa razaqtahum waghfir lahum warhamhum.

Translation: O Allah, bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.

أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُوْنَ وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكَمُ الْأَبْرَارُ وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَة‏ُ

Aftara ‘indakumus saa’imoon wa akala ta’aamakumul abraar wa sallat ‘alaykumul malaa’ikah.

Translation: May the fasting break their fast in your home, and may the dutiful and pious eat your food, and may the angels send prayers upon you
