We have so far reached the end of Qiyam (standing posture)
We are now ready to go in to ruku (bowing posture). This will be done in the following way:
A ) While saying takbeer (Allahu Akbar) we will go in to ruku.
B ) Once in the ruku:
- (Boys) will straighten and align the back and head
- (Girls) will bend the back only slightly, just enough to touch the knees.
- (Boys) will grasp the knees and keep the fingers spread out
- (Girls) will place their hands on their knees with fingers close together and not grasping the knees.
- (Boys) will keep the knees straight and keep the arms away from the body
- (Girls) will slightly bend the knees and keep he arms close to their bodies
- The eyes/gaze should be fixed in between the feet.
C ) Once our body is calm and steady in this bowing position we will recite the tasbeeh of ruku
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيم
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيم
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيم
This tasbeeh will be read at least 3 times or any other odd number.
Important Note:
For all postures such as ruku, sajdah, or the standing or sitting between these postures, it is important there is calmness and a person is calm and settled in each position for at least the duration of one Subhanallah. Preferable and more rewarding is at least 3 Subhanallah.
We have now Alhamdulillah completed our Ruku (bowing posture of salah). We are now ready to move to the next posture.
