A Short Surah with Great Rewards
Listen to “A Short Surah with Great Rewards” by Mawlana Junayd Makda Sahib
Surah Ikhlas (Qul huwallahu Ahad) is one of the shortest surah in the Glorious Qur’an and it is the third last surah of the Quran. For many, it is probably the most frequently read in salah (as it’s quick to read). It may have been the first surah most of us memorised and it definitely would have been the easiest to memorise and is the easiest to read.
Despite being so simple it carries a HUGE amount of reward which many of us may not be aware of.
Let’s look at a few so that every time we read this surah we realise what we are gaining.
Reward One –
That person who reads this surah will get the reward of reading 1/3 of the Qur’an. That’s 10 Para/Juzz!
This means, by reciting surah Ikhlas 3 times it will be as if we have read the entire Quran.
So if we recite it 100 times a day …. We will get the reward for reciting the Quraan 33 times!
Abdullah Ibn Umar رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said, “Qul huwallahu ahad is equal to one-third of the Quran. Qul ya ayyuhal kafiroon (chapter 109) is equal to one-fourth of the Quran.”
(Mu’jam Al-Kabeer)
Reward Two –
The one who loves this surah will enter Jannah
Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reports: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I love this chapter; qul huwallahu ahad.” Rasūlullāh ﷺ said, “Your love for it will enter you into Jannah.” (Bukhari)
Reward Three –
By reading this surah 10 times a palace is built in Jannah. Keep reciting and building palace after palace!
Our beloved Nabi ﷺ said, “Whoever recites the chapter ten times, then Allah will build a palace for him in Paradise.” (Ahmad)
Reward Four –
Whoever reads this surah 100 times before going to sleep will enter Jannah
Our beloved Nabi ﷺ said:
“If anyone who is about to sleep on his bed, lies on his right side, then recited Surah Ikhlas 100 times, Allah will say to him on the Day of the resurrection, ‘My slave, enter Paradise to your right side.‘” (Tirmidhi)
Reward Five –
Whoever recites this surah 200 times daily his sins of the past 50 years will be forgiven
Anas رضي الله عنه says that Rasulullah ﷺ said, “If anyone recites Surah Ikhlas 200 times every day, 200 of his (minor) sins committed over 50 years will be removed from his record; except if he has to pay loan to anyone, that will not be forgiven.” (At-Tirmidhi and Darami)
Reciting the last three surahs before bed:
It was narrated from Aa’ishah رضي الله عنها that when the Prophet ﷺ went to bed every night, he would hold his hands together and blow into them, and recite into them Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad, Qul a’oodhu bi rabb il-falaq and Qul a’oodhu bi rabb il-naas. Then he would wipe them over whatever he could of his body, starting with his head and face and the front of his body, and he would do that three times. [Bukhari]
