A Look back at the amazing features. Appearance, characteristics, habits, and personality of our most amazing nabi ﷺ, to help us understand how special he was.

Jibreel Alayhis Salam has said:

قَلَّبْتُ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَمَغَارِبَهَا فَلَمْ أَرَ رَجُلًا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

“I searched the east and the west, I left no stone unturned, but I did not find anyone like our beloved Rasul ﷺ.” (Mujamul Awsat-Tabraani)

His beloved appearance and intelligence

Listen to “His beloved appearance and intelligence by Mawlana Junayd Makda Sahib

His complexion ﷺ

Ali رضي الله عنه says about the complexion of our beloved Nabi ﷺ that it was light with a touch of reddishness to it. (Shamail)

Anas رضي الله عنه describes his complexion as neither white nor brown. This means the complexion of our beloved Nabi ﷺ was between both those colours. (Shamail, Ibn Kathir)

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه says that he never saw anyone more beautiful than our beloved Nabi ﷺ. He further goes on to describe that it used to seem as though the sun was glowing from the blessed forehead of our beloved Nabi ﷺ! (Shamail, Ibn Kathir)

His voice ﷺ

Like all of the Ambiya (Prophets), our beloved Nabi ﷺ was also handsome and Allah ﷻ had also granted Him a very sweet and pleasant voice.

Jubayr رضي الله عنه whilst describing the voice of our beloved Nabi ﷺ says that he had a very pleasant and captivating voice.

Barra رضي الله عنه says that when our beloved Nabi ﷺ delivered a Khutba (sermon) from Masjid an-Nabwi, the women were able to hear his voice from their houses!

This is how far our amazing Nabi ﷺ‎’s voice travelled. (Bayhaqi, Abu Nu’aym, Khasa’is Al Kubra)

His perspiration and call of nature ﷺ

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ was human and so would also sweat. But a miracle of his was that his perspiration was sweeter in fragrance than any other perfume! SubhanAllah!

Also, after answering the call of nature, it would not leave a bad odour. Also, the earth would leave no trace of it. This was all a favour of Allah ﷻ upon all of the Prophets عليهم السلام and it was also a miracle. (Khasa’is Al Kubra)

His seal of prophethood ﷺ

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ also had a mark between His shoulder blades on His back. (Jam’ul Wasa’il)

This was known as the seal of prophethood. It was the size of a dove’s egg. (Khasa’is Shamail)

It was also a sign from Allah ﷻ to show that our beloved Nabi ﷺ was the final prophet. This particular portion of our beloved Nabi ﷺ looked very beautiful. Even the shape and detail were excellent!

His intelligence ﷺ

The intelligence of our beloved Nabi ﷺ was such that Abdullah Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما describes that Nabi ﷺ was the most intelligent human being. (Sirat Vol. 7)

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ‎’s intelligence is easily evident if we closely study his blessed life; the manner in which he dealt with people of various tribes and backgrounds, the method of teaching his Sahabah (companions), his ability to plan and set out perfect strategies for battle and peace and His ability to deal with the kings and emperors of that era. Every action and decision was perfect and full of excellence.

It is reported that from 100 portions of intelligence, 99 portions were granted to our beloved Nabi ﷺ and the remaining 1 portion was given to the whole of mankind. (Sirat Vol 7) How amazing is that!

These were just a few brief descriptions of our most beautiful, most perfect and most special Nabi ﷺ, who is a perfect role model for us all.

A little suffices many

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه mentions an incident in which our beloved nabi ﷺ, was once given a bowl of milk as a gift.

Our beloved Nabi ﷺ called Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه and asked him to invite all the Ashab-us-Suffah (a group of poor sahaba living in a place called suffah)

When they arrived, Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه was asked to serve the bowl of milk to them. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه explains that, not having eaten for many days, he was a little disappointed as he knew there would be none left for him at the end.

However, when everyone had finished drinking, there was still milk in the bowl. Our beloved Nabi ﷺ ordered him to drink, which he did. He was ordered to drink again, he drank until finally, he could not drink anymore as he was full.

(Sahih Al-Bukhārī)
