Special words for morning and evening
Allah Ta’ala likes a servant to say words of praise to Him, to show Him we are happy with all He gives us and above all we are happy with Him being our Rabb, Islam being our deen and Nabi ﷺ being our Nabi.
There is a Hadeeth of our beloved Nabi ﷺ which teaches us to this with a short few words. Let’s learn them and read them!
رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبَّاً، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيناً، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبِيَّاً
Let us look at some amazing virtues and benefits of reading this Dua Insha’allah:
Virtue One
Whoever recites it 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening, Allah Ta’ala shall make him or her content on the day of Qiyamah.
Our Beloved Nabi ﷺ said: “There is no Muslim who says three times, when morning comes and when evening comes,
‘Radeetu Billahi rabban wa bi Islami deenan wa bi Muhammadin sall-Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallama nabiyyan
رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبَّاً، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيناً، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبِيَّاً
(I am content with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) as my Prophet),’
but it will be incumbent upon Allah to make him content on the Day of Resurrection.”
Musnad Ahmad 18967, Ibn Majah 3870
Virtue Two
Paradise is guaranteed for the person who reads this dua
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri رضي الله عنه reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying:
If anyone says “I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion and with Muhammad ﷺ as the Prophet” Paradise will be his due.
Abu Dawud 1529
Virtue Three
The reciter of this supplication will be taken by the hand of our beloved Nabi ﷺ until he enters him into paradise.
Our Beloved Nabi ﷺ has said that the reward for saying this supplication is that he himself will take the person by hand until he enters him into paradise.
Tabraani 838
Virtue Four
Whoever reads the following dua after adhan, Allah Ta’ala forgives his sins (minor sins)
Sa’d bin Abu Waqqas رضي الله عنه reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying:
“He who says after the Adhan:
[I testify that there is no true god except Allah Alone; He has no partners and that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His slave and Messenger; I am content with Allah as my Rubb, with Muhammad as my Messenger and with Islam as my Deen],’ His sins will be forgiven.”
Muslim 386
Benefits of reading this supplication:
1.) A person who says these words morning and evening will be better prepared for whatever comes to him that day, knowing it is from Allah Almighty.
2.) These words will help a person prepare for the questioning in the grave when he will be asked 3 questions, “Who is your Rabb? What is your religion? Who is this person that was sent to you?” (Abu Dawud 4753)
The answers to these three questions are the three statements in this supplication!
3.) This supplication, though simple and easy, carries great rewards. A believer should live by these words, read these words regularly, and contemplate on these words as often as possible.
4.) We are reminding ourselves that we are happy and fortunate to:
a.) Believe in Allah Ta’ala as our Rabb
b.) Islam as our Deen
c.) Nabi ﷺ as our prophet.
