Sunnah of the Week

When we eat or drink anything we should always sit down. This is a Sunnah of our beloved Nabi ﷺ. In fact in the Hadeeth we find that nabi ﷺ prohibited us from standing up and eating or drinking. From the two, standing up and eating is more disliked.  So we should always sit when we want to eat and drink.

Dua of the Week

Reward that will tire 70 Angels

Hadhrat Abbas radhiallahu anhu reports that Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

Whosoever recites the following dua then indeed it will tire 70 angels for 1000 days (meaning for reading this dua a person will get so much reward that 70 angels will be tired by writing its reward for 1000 days! Amazing right? So let’s learn this dua):

جَزَى اللهُ عَنَّا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ

Transliteration:

Jazallahu `anna Muhammadan, sallalahu alayhi wasallam maa huwa ahluh

Translation:

‘May Allah reward Muhammad ﷺ on our behalf, such a reward which is due to him’

Virtues of Reading durood (Hadeeth 2)

Hadhrat Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said, “The person in whose presence I am mentioned should send blessings upon me. Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings upon him.” In one hadith, Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings upon him, forgives ten of his sins and raises his status (position) ten times.”

Explanation

Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Whoever sends ten duroods upon me, Allah Ta’ala will send one hundred blessings upon him. Whoever sends one hundred durood upon me, Allah Ta’ala will send one thousand blessings upon him, and whoever sends more due to love and devotion, I shall intercede for him on the Day of Qiyaamah and be a witness for him.”

A Sahaabi says, “From amongst four or five of us, at least one of us would always remain with Rasulullah ﷺ to attend to his needs. One day Rasulullah ﷺ went into a garden and I followed him. Rasulullah ﷺ performed ṣalaah there and made sajdah for such a long time that I feared Rasulullah ﷺ had passed away. I began crying due to this fear and went close to Rasulullah ﷺ to check on him. After Rasulullah ﷺ got up from sajdah, he asked, ‘O Abdurrahmaan, what is the matter?’ I replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, you performed such a long sajdah that I feared you had passed away.’ Rasulullah ﷺ replied, ‘Allah Ta’ala has given me a favour with regards to my followers. To show thanks for this favour, I made sajdah for so long. Allah Ta’ala has informed me that whoever sends one durood upon me, He will record ten good deeds for him and forgive ten of his sins.’

Spend 15 minutes studying the seerah of our beloved nabi ﷺ. A very simple and concise kitab for beginners is ‘Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wassalam – our beloved Nabi’
